'The Peanuts Movie' trailer sends Snoopy to Paris for a dogfight with the Red Baron

The Peanuts Movie's first full trailer, which 20th Century Fox posted online today, gives fans of Charles M. Schulz's beloved comic strip little reason to be anxious about the upcoming CG-animated film.

The trailer focuses on Snoopy and his avian companion Woodstock, along with Woodstock's fellow yellow birds. The imaginative beagle straps on his aviator goggles and hops into his doghouse-turned-Sopwith-Camel to duke it out with his nemesis, the Red Baron, around the Eiffel Tower in Paris. After a rude awakening, he introduces Woodstock to the Christmas lights that the birds brought to the doghouse. Finally, we get a glimpse of Charlie Brown and his classmates in a movie theater, with Snoopy's owner as awkward as ever.

Fox's Blue Sky Studios is working on The Peanuts Movie, and the trailer is encouraging in that the animation studio has managed to transition Schulz's simple artwork into CGI without losing its emotional expressiveness. The new look is going to take some getting used to, but it's not as immediately off-putting as the initial teaser trailer from March may have made it seem.

The Peanuts Movie is written by Craig Schulz (Charles Schulz's son), Bryan Schulz (Charles Schulz's grandson) and Cornelius Uliano, and is directed by Steve Martino (Horton Hears A Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift). The three writers are also producers, along with Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Freaks and Geeks) and Michael J. Travers (Epic). The Peanuts Movie is set to hit theaters Nov. 6, 2015.
