Sniper Elite 3's free DLC update brings new maps and a firing range

Sniper Elite 3's free DLC update brings new maps and a firing range

Sniper Elite 3 just up and released two new modes, a new co-operative mission and three new multiplayer maps, all of it for free, on PlayStation 4, with promises that the new content will be on its way to the game's other platforms soon.

The new single-player mode is a shooting range where players may test fire all of the game's weapons — including all DLC weapons — on three different ranges. The Shooting Range also offers four shooting challenges in addition to the free-fire practice.

Twilight Strike is the co-op mission, returning the player to Tobruk to retake the town at nightfall. The mission contains more optional hidden objectives and new trophies.

Multiplayer returns capture-the-flag to Sniper Elite, and it's playable on three additional maps: Fracture, Night Watch and Outpost Canyon. Fracture is set in an abandoned jungle weapons factory spread across a chasm. Night Watch is set after dark in the ruins of an old oasis town, and Outpost Canyon is a wide-open landscape.

The free DLC arrives with two new premium weapons packs, International Camouflage Rifles and U.S. Camouflage Rifles. They're a camo livery for "three fan favorite rifles from America and around the globe," according to publisher 505 Games, and each pack is $2.99.

Sniper Elite 3 launched in June for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Some find the game frustrating, others have helped make it a cult hit.
