Destiny promises a beefed up 'Iron Banner' before the end of the year

Destiny promises a beefed up 'Iron Banner' before the end of the year

Destiny's "Iron Banner" event, which drew complaints in part because high-level players weren't badass enough in it, will launch again before the end of the year, and this time, only elite Guardians need apply.

When it returns, Iron Banner will require a fireteam leader to be level 20, and while lover level players may join the fun with a "chaperone," they will still find it tough sledding.

The original Iron Banner nerfed high level players because, lead designer Tyson Green said, Bungie wanted to "create relatively small advantages that would suffice only to tilt the balance between players of equal skill towards the player of greater achievement.

"We now believe we have been too conservative, and that small tilts failed to meet anyone's expectations," Green said in Bungie's latest weekly update.

To discourage quitting, anyone who participates in the next Iron Banner will receive a "Medallion of Iron" if their team loses. Every iron medallion that is won converts to a reputation gain "almost equal to a win," upon the player's next victory.
